Tourists visit Myanmar via Tachilek border gate

Tourists have been travelling in and out of Myanmar through international gateways and cross-border gateways, to enjoy its natural landscapes, tourist attractions and witness its many traditions, customs and social lifestyles.
In fact, a culture-based tourism package has been developed, where tourists can observe the traditions and culture of the nation’s many ethnic people.
Some 159 visitors entered the country via the Tachileik border gate on a one-day return trip from December 29, 2017, to January 4, 2018. Some 275 tourists, including Thais and third country visitors, visited Maing Phat and Kyaing Tong; and 177 tourists, including Thais and third country visitors, travelled with a visa from December 29, 2017, to January 4, 2018.
Tourists who were on a one-day return trip visited the Tarlot market, Bayintnaung Statue, Maha Myatmuni Pagoda, Shwedagon Pagoda, national landmark garden, the Arrkhar market, and the Chinese monastery, which are famous sites in Tachilek.
Tourists who stayed overnight visited the Buddha Footprint Pagoda, Maha Myatmuni Pagoda in Kyaing Tong, Soon Taung Pagoda, and other well-known pagodas and locations in Maing Phat. Of those tourists who entered via the Tachilek border gate, some 730,756 were one-day return visitors, while 11,901 travelled further, to Maing Phat and Kyaing Tong, from April 1, 2017, to January 4, 2018. There were 5,714 tourists with visas,who travelled by air to Tachilek.
